MY roots

I am a mother, a wife, a middle child, a believer in positive self-talk and wish I was more of a optimist than a realist. I worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years in both medical surgical and Emergency. This profession took me all over the world from remote fly-in camps in northern Canada, relief work in Haiti and the Philippines and finally traveling nursing in California. After 10 years at the bedside I was inspired to co-found Do It For The Love with my husband, musician Michael Franti after witnessing the power that music can have, inspiring hope in challenging times and bringing families together during their greatest need. Do It For The Love’s mission is to provide live concert experience for children and adults living in end stages of life threatening illness, children with severe challenges and wounded veterans.

In addition to my work in health and healing, I am also the owner and creative director of LUA, a line of accessories that is meant to inspire individuality and encourage the wearer to live free. Together with my husband we own a boutique hotel called Soulshine Bali that is dedicated to yoga, soul and rock & roll!

I am dedicated in making a positive impact on the lives of others. My drive to help others allowed me to complete my Masters degree in Public Health which I hope to use as a platform to concentrate on health promotion and policy change. My work, life and play are all influenced by our family mantra “Be your best. Serve the greater good. Rock out wherever you are!”
